Eligibility Criteria for Coast Guard Assistant Commandant

General Duty (GD):

  1. Should hold a degree of recognised university with minimum 60% aggregate marks
  2. Mathematics and Physics as subject upto Intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. The candidates who have completed graduation after diploma, are also eligible, provided they should possess an aggregate of 55% marks in diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum.

Age Limit: Born between 01 Jul 1998 to 30 Jun 2002 (Both dates inclusive)

Commercial Pilot Licence (SSA)

  1. Should have passed 12th class or equivalent with physics and mathematics as subjects with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. The candidates who have completed diploma are also eligible, provided they should possess an aggregate of 55% marks in diploma with physics and mathematics in its curriculum.
  2. Should possess current Commercial Pilot Licence issued/ validated by Director General Civil Aviation on the date of submission of application.

Age Limit:Born between 01 Jul 1998 to 30 Jun 2004 (Both dates inclusive).

Technical (Mechanical)

  1. Should hold an Engineering degree of recognised university in Naval Architecture or Mechanical or Marine or Automotive or Mechatronics or Industrial and Production or Metallurgy or Design or Aeronautical or Aerospace with minimum 60% aggregate marks. OR Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognised by the Institutes of the Engineers (India) as exempted from section ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination (AMIE).
  2. Mathematics and Physics as subject upto intermediate or class XII of 10+2+3 scheme of education or equivalent with minimum 55% aggregate marks in Mathematics and Physics. OR Equivalent qualification in any of the above disciplines recognised by the Institutes of the Engineers (India) as exempted from section ‘A’ and ‘B’ and their associate membership examination (AMIE).

Indian Coast Guard AC Medical Standards

a) Height.

  1. Asst Commandant (GD) and Tech. 157 cms minimum. Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. regulations.
  2. Asst Commandant (CPL-SSA) (Men/Women). Minimum 162.5 cms and maximum 197 cms, leg length minimum 99 cms.

(b) Weight. Proportionate to the Height and Age, + 10 % acceptable.

(c) Chest. Well proportionate, minimum expansion 5 cms.

(d) Eye Sight.

  1. Asst Commandant (GD) :

    6/6 6/9 - Uncorrected without Glass.

    6/6 6/6 - Corrected with Glass.

  2. Asst Commandant - CPL holders (SSA) both (Maleand Female) :

Selection Process of Coast Guard Assistant Commandant 2023

The selection of Officer Recruits is based on an all India order of merit which is based on the performance of candidate in various stages (I – V) of examination (explained in detail below) and the number of vacancies available for the post. Clearing of Stage I, II, III, IV and V is compulsory for recruitment in ICG. All candidates will be compulsorily subjected to biometric, photo identification and document verification during various stages of examination.

Coast Guard Assistant Commandant Syllabus & Test Pattern 2023

Stage-I (CGCAT). The Stage-I would include conduct of screening Test for the eligible applicants which will be a Computer Based Examination conducted at various centers all over India. Screening test is to be conducted for candidates applying for the post of GD/CPL and Technical (Mechanical/Electrical & Electronics). The screening test will be conducted in MCQ pattern with maximum marks of 400 consisting of 100 questions with four marks for each correct answer and one negative marking for each incorrect answer. The duration of the exam will be of two hours and medium of test paper will be English. The candidate has to take following tests depending on post applied:-

  1. All India category wise merit list for Stage-I will be prepared on the basis of marks scored in Stage-I (CGCAT) of CGCAT examination and DOB. If merit is tied at last shortlisted candidate, than all the candidates having same marks will be shortlisted for stage II (PSB).
  2. Indian Coast Guard has the discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or all subjects of the examination for short listing of candidates for stage-II (PSB).

Coast Guard Assistant Commandant (AC) Admit Card 2023

ICG website will announce the date when e-admit cards are available for download for Stage I, II &III. Candidates are directed to regularly visit the website and login to download the E-Admit Card for various stages. No e-mail will be sent to candidates regarding “when the E-admit card will be available for download”. Examination city will be displayed in candidate's login at least 10 days prior to Stage-I. The E-admit card with exact Examination Centre address will be available in Candidate login and email will be sent on registered email Id only 02-03 days prior to examination. Failure to download the E-admit card and non-reporting for various recruitment stages will lead to cancellation of candidature. ICG will not be responsible, if the candidate fails to regularly check the important recruitment communication on website regarding downloading of E-admit card and other instructions for Stage-I, II, III, IV and Stage-V.
