RRB ALP Notification 2024 PDF
Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) in all notified Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) for 5696 vacancies in pay level-2. The last date for submission of application is 19th February 2024. RRB ALP Selection Process 2024
The recruitment process shall comprise of the following stages:
- First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
- Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
- Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)
- Document Verification (DV) and
- Medical Examination (ME)
Shortlisting of candidates for the Second Stage CBT shall be done RRB-wise at the rate of 15 (fifteen) times the vacancies for that RRB (may increase or decrease as per requirement of the Railway Administration). It will be based on their merit in CBT-1. Marks will be normalized in all the stages of exam that involve multiple shifts. The shortlisted candidates for CBT-2 shall be informed through official RRB websites as well as via SMS and email (to their registered mobile number and email ID) to download their E-call letters for appearing in CBT-2.
RRB ALP Syllabus and Exam Scheme 2024
First Stage CBT (CBT-1)
CBT-1 will only be a screening exam for shortlisting eligible candidates for CBT-2 based on their normalized marks and merit.
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Number of questions: 75, Maximum marks: 75 (@1 mark per question)
- There shall be negative marking @1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
- Normalization of marks will be done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- Minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR & EWS - 40%, OBC (NCL) - 30%, SC-30%, ST- 25%.
- The standard of questions for CBT-1 will generally be in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the post. Questions will be of objective type with multiple choice answers and are likely to cover topics pertaining to the following syllabus: a. Mathematics, b. Mental Ability, c. General Science, d. General Awareness
Second Stage CBT (CBT-2)
Shortlisting of candidates for CBT-2 shall be done RRB-wise and community wise as per their normalized marks and merit in CBT-1.
Total number of candidates to be shortlisted for CBT-2 shall be limited to 15 times the number of vacancies notified against each RRB.
- CBT-2 shall comprise of two parts viz., Part-A and Part-B as detailed below.
- Total Duration: 2 hours and 30 minutes & Total Questions: 175
- Part-A: 90 minutes & 100 questions
- Part-B: 60 minutes & 75 questions
- There shall be negative marking @1/3rd marks for each wrong answer.
- Normalization of marks will be done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- In Part -A, Minimum pass percentage for eligibility: UR & EWS-40%, OBC (NCL) - 30%, SC- 30%, ST-25%.
- Only the marks scored in Part-A shall be counted for shortlisting of candidates for further stages of this recruitment process provided the candidate irrespective of community is able to secure qualifying marks (35%) in Part-B.
- SYLLABUS for Part-A: a. Mathematics, b. General Intelligence and Reasoning, c. Basic Science and Engineering.
- SYLLABUS for Part-B: Part-B is only a qualifying test in nature and shall have questions from the various trade syllabi as prescribed by Directorate General of Training (DGT).
RRB ALP Medium of Examination 2024
Questions for CBT-1 and CBT-2 will be available in English, Hindi and 13 regional Indian languages (viz., Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu). Accordingly, candidates must choose their medium of examination from any one amongst those listed in the ONLINE application form. CBT-1 and CBT-2 questions will be displayed in the language opted and in English. However, CBAT will be conducted only in English and Hindi.
Railway ALP Documents Uploading List 2024
Mandatory Scanned Documents to be kept ready before filling the application:
- Recent, clear colour passport size photograph (against a plain white background) of the candidate in JPEG image (size 30 to 70 KB) - without wearing dark glasses and/or cap.
Note: Candidates must have at least 12 (twelve) copies of the same photograph for future use during the recruitment process.
- Scanned JPEG image of candidate's signature in running handwriting (size 30 to 70 KB)
- SC/ST Certificate (only for candidates requesting free pass for train travel) in in PDF format (upto 500kb)
